About the Role:
SiSTEM is hiring experienced science tutors to work with motivated students and families in the greater Houston area.

This is not a volume tutoring gig. Our tutors work as trusted academic partners with families who value expertise, helping students build real understanding, scientific thinking skills, and confidence in science at every level.

If you can tutor any of the following, we want to hear from you:

Elementary Science (Grades K–5):
  • Life science (plants, animals, ecosystems).
  • Earth and space science.
  • Physical science (matter, energy, force, motion).
  • Scientific method and inquiry skills.
  • Weather, water cycle, and natural resources.
  • Hands-on experiment support.

Middle School Science (Grades 6–8):
  • Life Science / Biology fundamentals.
  • Earth Science.
  • Physical Science.
  • Introduction to Chemistry concepts.
  • Introduction to Physics concepts.
  • Lab skills and scientific investigation.

High School Science (Grades 9–12):
  • Biology.
  • Chemistry.
  • Physics.
  • Environmental Science.
  • Anatomy and Physiology.
  • Earth and Space Science.

Advanced and Honors-Level Science:
  • Honors and Pre-AP Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
  • AP Biology.
  • AP Chemistry.
  • AP Physics 1, 2, and C (Mechanics and E&M).
  • AP Environmental Science.
  • IB Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
  • Dual Credit College Science courses.

Test Prep Science Sections:
  • ACT Science.
  • STAAR Science (Grades 5, 8, and Biology EOC).
  • SAT Subject-Related Science Questions.
  • TSI Science-Related Sections.
  • ISEE / SSAT Science-Related Sections.
  • GED Science.

Specialized Science Support:
  • Science fair project guidance and research design.
  • Lab report writing and data analysis.
  • STEM competition preparation (Science Olympiad, etc.).
  • Pre-med and health science pathway preparation.

You do not need to tutor every level. If you specialize in elementary science only, or AP Chemistry only, or Physics only, or anything in between, we want you on our team.

About SiSTEM:
SiSTEM is an academic guidance platform that builds personalized roadmaps for students in grades K–12. Every student on SiSTEM has a plan. Tutors are a key part of that plan and are matched to students based on specific needs, not random availability.

We started as a tutoring agency in Texas, grew to 300+ tutors serving 10,000+ students, and are now launching a platform that gives educators better tools, better-matched students, and the ability to build a real client base.

What You'll Do:
  • Work one-on-one with students in grades K–12 to provide focused science instruction at their level.
  • Help students develop deeper conceptual understanding, not just memorize facts for the test.
  • Build scientific reasoning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Make abstract concepts concrete through clear explanations, real-world connections, and structured practice.
  • Identify and close gaps in foundational science knowledge that are holding students back.
  • Align your sessions with each student's broader academic roadmap through SiSTEM's planning tools.
  • Communicate with families on progress and strategy when appropriate.
  • Maintain high standards of preparation and professionalism.

What We're Looking For:
We are selective about who joins the SiSTEM team.

Strong candidates typically have:
  • 3+ years of teaching, tutoring, or academic mentoring experience in science.
  • Deep expertise in at least one of the science subjects listed above.
  • Experience working with motivated students who are in honors, Pre-AP, AP, gifted, or test prep settings.
  • A track record of helping students improve grades, build confidence, or master concepts they previously struggled with.
  • Clear, patient communication and the ability to make science click for students who think they're "not a science person".
  • Professional reliability.

Bonus: current or former science teachers, scientists, engineers, medical professionals, or STEM researchers who tutor, educators with degrees in biology, chemistry, physics, or science education, tutors with experience coaching science fair or STEM competitions.
