About the Role:
SiSTEM is hiring experienced college advisors, career counselors, and academic strategists who want to help middle and high school families plan ahead and not panic at the last minute.
This is not an admissions consulting role. And it is not reactive senior-year hand-holding.
Our College & Career Readiness Coaches operate as long-range strategic partners, helping families connect the decisions they make in middle and high school to the opportunities waiting on the other side; whether that is a four-year university, a competitive program, a gap year, or a career pathway.
If you have experience in any of the following areas, we want to hear from you:
- College readiness strategy starting in middle school and early high school.
- Course and credential selection aligned to post-secondary goals (AP, IB, dual enrollment, CTE pathways).
- Career exploration and interest-to-pathway alignment.
- Application strategy, personal narrative development, and positioning.
- Scholarship research and financial aid awareness.
- Test prep strategy (SAT, ACT, PSAT) aligned to college goals.
- Understanding of selective, competitive, and alternative post-secondary pathways.
You do not need to specialize in every area. If your strength is career pathway planning, or college positioning strategy, or anything in between, we want you on our team.
What You'll Do:
- Work with families in grades 6–12 to develop long-range college and career readiness plans built around each student's strengths, interests, and goals.
- Help families understand how decisions made in middle and early high school affect post-secondary options.
- Guide students through career exploration, interest alignment, and pathway planning before they reach the application stage.
- Lead structured planning conversations that give families clarity on what to prioritize and when.
- Collaborate with SiSTEM's AI planning system (STEMMIE) so coaching sessions build on each student's evolving roadmap.
- Communicate clearly with families about strategy, trade-offs, and realistic expectations for post-secondary outcomes.
- Maintain high standards of professionalism, preparation, and thoughtful guidance.
What We're Looking For:
We are selective about who joins the SiSTEM team.
Strong candidates typically have:
- 5+ years of experience in college advising, career counseling, academic advising, or post-secondary planning.
- Deep knowledge of the college admissions landscape, post-secondary pathways, and what makes students competitive candidates.
- Experience helping families make strategic decisions well before senior year — not just managing the application process.
- A track record of guiding students toward meaningful post-secondary outcomes.
- The ability to translate complex admissions and career systems into clear, actionable guidance for families.
- Clear, confident communication with both parents and students.
- Professional reliability and high standards.
Bonus: former college admissions officers, independent educational consultants, high school counselors with college advising experience, career counselors with experience working with secondary students.
